3D Printer Purge Filament

$19.99

Compatible with all filament printers, this 1.75mm Patented Purge filament is designed to maintain your 3D printer. Purge Filament cleans and lubricates your extruder head and nozzle, removing hardened contaminants and built up residue.

We strongly recommend using Purge Filament on a regular preventative maintenance schedule to significantly extend the life of your extruder and keep it working trouble free.

RECOMMENDED USES:

  • Between Material Changes: Purge filament extrudes over a very wide temperature range and can be used between any material changes, regardless of their melting temperatures.
  • Between Color Changes: Perfect for ensuring no previously used colors bleed into your current print. Purge filament is colorless.
  • When Printer is Not Being Used: By shutting down your 3D printer and starting up your machine with a small amount of the Purge filament loaded in the extruder, you will significantly extend the life of your extruder, nozzle and print head assembly.

For best results, please follow the directions included on the packaging or see the instructions below.

* Purge Filament comes packaged as a coil (not on a spool) approximately 3 meters long inside a resealable bag. In most cases this will be enough for at least 10 to 20 uses or even more depending on your maintenance procedures.

Step 1 Set temperature to +175°C or approximately (+350°F) or above*.

Step 2 Feed 8-12 inches of the purge fi lament. With some machines you may use the fi lament feed or start filament mode to feed in the filament. Other machines may require you to do this manually.

Step 3 Safety Glasses must be worn during this step. Repeat step 2 above increasing temperature to 5°C (or approx. 10°F) below the maximum your machine is rated for with the purge filament in place and repeat Step 2 above. The filament may form a puddle as it comes out the nozzle and it may even spurt or spray as it comes out. Examine the puddle for signs of contamination and burnt bits. Repeat this step as necessary until there are no apparent signs of contamination in the puddle or thread. Purge filament works best and provides the deepest cleaning at temperatures 5°C (10°F) below the maximum rated temperature of your 3-D printer.

Step 4 Lower the temperature back down to 185°C and print a ring ** about 1” in diameter and ½” high with a wall thickness of about 1/8” thick (exact dimensions aren’t important). If your extruder head is clean, the ring will be white, but most likely, you’ll see a gradient as you print the ring with the purge pulling bits out of the extruder and trapped in the print material. Depending on how ‘crusted’ the inside of your extruder was, you may need to repeat this step until you’re satisfi ed that it’s sufficiently clean.

*Note  Our purge filament works best at the highest temperature your machine can safely achieve. We recommend settings 5-10°F below your machines maximum temperature setting. At these settings purge will liquefy and provide a deep cleaning. To ensure cleaning is complete, follow instructions carefully detailed above.

FOR OPTIMUM RESULTS
+ Use purge fi lament as directed above every time you change materials or colors at a minimum.

+ By shutting down your 3-D Printer and starting up your machine with a small amount of the purge fi lament loaded in the extruder, you will signifi cantly extend the life of your extruder, nozzle and printer head assembly.

+ Start-up and shut-down temperatures should be in the range of 165°-190°C (330°-375°F) If you have any questions or concerns please contact us at service@aefi laments.com
